Using Dream Islands as a daily rare-material loop

Dream Islands, unlocked by giving Drifloon a Legendary doll once a day, are a renewable source of rare materials that resets every day and can be doubled with a Cloud Island.

Give Drifloon a doll of a Legendary or Mythical Pokémon (Dragonite, Arcanine, and others, one doll per island theme) and it ferries you to a themed Dream Island for the day. Each themed island leans toward a specific set of rare materials tied to its doll — the Dragonite island is the best-known Pokemetal source, and the Volcanic/Arcanine island restocks Gold Ore — which makes checking in with Drifloon part of an efficient daily routine rather than an occasional detour.

Cloud Island, once unlocked, lets Drifloon make this trip a second time in the same day, effectively doubling how much rare material you can pull from Dream Islands before the next reset. Because Dream Islands refresh daily alongside glowing spots and Daily Challenges, folding a Drifloon visit into the same routine as claiming Daily Challenges at the PC keeps you from forgetting the trip on busy days.
